Behavior therapy improves social skills especially in children under 12

Rediscover your child’s best

B.E.S.T. was founded as a result of my personal evolution as a hurt child working through my anger, social worker, clinical therapist, educator, special education compliance professional and mother of a now adult child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Each of these stages in life gave me a different perspective of the needs, challenges, and ways to assist children and families with behavior-impacting diagnoses.

Children are struggling with behaviors in school, at home, and in the community. Parents are either asking for help and not receiving it or don’t know where to get help.  When children are struggling with any academic subject, society says to teach them.  When children struggle with behavior, society says punish them.  This is especially true for Students with Disabilities (SWD) and Black and Brown children https://yourbestisperfect.org/special-education-tools/are-black-kids-that-bad/. Behavior therapy and parent coaching are a means of building the capacity of both the child and the parent.

How many times have you received a call or note from school describing your child’s unacceptable behavior?

How many daycares has your child been kicked out of because the staff just didn’t know what to do with them?

How many eye rolls and nasty stares have you received in the grocery store when your child is in the middle of a meltdown?

How many family members or friends have let you know how unwelcome your child is in their home?

For children with ADHD behavior therapy and parent coaching improves relationships and social and educational outcomes https://childmind.org/article/behavioral-treatments-kids-adhd/. We can offer this help in conjunction with any other therapies your child may be participating in.

Sometimes help is creating a customized learning plan at home that supports and enhances what your child is learning or lacking at school. I’d love to be a part of the support system that helps your child succeed in school, at home, and in the community.
